I want to start eating healthy and I need good cookbooks to start me off any recommendations?
I am looking for a transitional recipe book so I don’t go into shock.lol. I hope someone can recommend recipe books they have actually tried before. I have had no luck on my own on the internet or in book stores.
Thank you everybody so much for your wonderful
advice. I will use them all.
I have three of Rachael Ray’s cookbooks… I make variations of her recipes everynight and they are generally very healthy…. as she so states all the time
. But it depends on what ingredients you use… you don’t need a whole new cook book. I just lost 50lbs and am working hard to keep it off, but I have learned to cut out the fat and some of the carbs… you can cut corners depending on the recipe… for instance use Extra Virgin Olive oil instead of veggie oil (I only use veggie oil for baking or for frying things) Also, cut down on the salt and season with herbs. Use leaner hamburger meat when making tacos or meatloaf. Use more fresh veggies instead of frozen… bake fried chicken instead of in a pan. The possibilites of cutting corners are endless.

I really like the Ten Talents cookbook but it might be a little extreme for you to start off with. You can get good cookbooks at used book stores. Try a cookbook that uses honey and whole wheat I’m trying to remember the name of my favorite but the cover is ripped off
but a bosch kitchen store would have some good options or a preparedness store that sells whole wheat in bags. Rodale press had some good ones- older ones not current stuff.References :
Try Asian cook books, especially Japanese, Vietnamese, or other cuisines without too much oil. These cuisines have a lot of fish, tofu, and vegetables, as recommended by the American Heart Assoc. They also have a lot more varieties of vegetables and ways of cooking them than western cuisines, so you don’t get bored of the healthy foods. Don’t go for most of those popular diets (Akins, i.e.), if you want healthy, go with the medical association recommendations, and you’ll lose weight as well as have a healthy body.References :
